Our trip to Barcelona started on 26th of June. It was hot and our location was next to the National Museum of Art from Catalunya (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya). The palace is famous with the fountains situated in front of it and the nice night-lights fountain show. From the palace one can see the great view over Plaza Espana.
The Placa Espana (where you can get with the metro lines L1, L3 and L8) is worth for a walk.
Just behind the art museum you will find Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys where the 1992 Olympic games took place.
The next photo is the view from the stadium building.
After seeing the stadium we headed towards the lift for the Montjuic hill and fortress. On the way we saw many flower bushes and trees, as well as the hidden statue from the next photo.
We decided to take the lift only on the way up. On the way down we walked because we wanted to see the garden under the hill. The garden appeared to be three gardens with different names. We passed through two of them (Jardins de Petra Kelly and Jardins de Mossen Cinto Verdaguer)
On the hill we saw Montjuic fortress which offered a view over Barcelona’s ships’ cargo port and the city on the other side. The fortress is open for visitors, but some of the halls were locked. You can have a drink or eat a sandwich in the small cafe inside the fortress’s courtyard. You can also walk on the fortress roof. There are also some military weapons pointing to the sea.
The following photo shows the way towards the fortress inner yard.
The next photo shows almost the entire fortress. You can also spot that some people are on its roof.
After we saw the fort, we walked down the hill and saw the beautiful gardens that i mentioned earlier.
We loved Barcelona gardens.
So all in all that was our first day of our stay in Barcelona. You will see more photos in the next days of our stay in this beautiful city.
